Very rare German-American Bund (Amerikadeutscher Volksbund – AV) lapel pin. The oval lapel pin in enamelled finish over silver base. Central design of stylised motif with swastika, along with the Bund’s initials ‘AV’. Beautifully enamelled red field in translucent enamel. Reverse with relief manufacturer name, Apollo Jewelry Brooklyn, New York. Perfect enamel work, of very high quality. Some light age patina showing on the reverse especially around the brooch pin fitting. Any item related to the American Bund Party is highly collectible, this is a first for me and I’m very happy to offer it here!
Note: The German American Bund, (Amerikadeutscher Volksbund – AV), was an American Nazi organization established in 1936 to succeed Friends of New Germany (FONG), the new name being chosen to emphasize the group’s American credentials, after press criticism that the organization was unpatriotic. The Bund was to consist only of American citizens of German descent. Its main goal was to promote a favorable view of Nazi Germany.
