Description

Absolutely wonderful and textbook example of an early SS-VT (SS-Verfügungstruppe) service tunic as worn by the earliest of members of the future Waffen-SS. This example shows a wonderful pair of bullion collar tabs with the number 2 for SS-Standarte 2/VT “Germania.” The lower left sleeve shows an early bullion Germania cufftitle, the left pocket shows loops for one award which has an SA sports badge attached to them, there is also a wonderful early wool armband on the left sleeve. Other than some light worn spots, the uniform overall has no issues or repairs. The inside of the uniform shows the standard lining of an early SS-VT set, this is far more uncommon than your standard tailored types we encounter, this is a TRUE textbook factory made service tunic. The inside also shows rarely seen foot regimental standarte markings to the Germania standarte. A very rare and very sought after uniform to one of the original members of the SS!

Note –

SS-Verfügungstruppe (SS Dispositional Troops) was formed in 1934 as combat troops for the Nazi Party (NSDAP). On 17 August 1938 Adolf Hitler decreed that the SS-VT was neither a part of the Ordnungspolizei (order police) nor the Wehrmacht, but military-trained men at the disposal of the Führer. In time of war, the SS-VT were to be placed at the disposal of the army. The SS-VT were involved in the German invasion of Poland in September 1939. By 1940 these military SS units had become the nucleus of the Waffen-SS.
