Description
An original, textbook, mint condition collar tab as worn by members of the Waffen-SS Italian volunteer formations. The tab features the distinctive embroidered fasces insignia in silver-gray thread on a black wool backing, representing the Italian Fascist symbol utilized by these units. These non-Germanic SS volunteers were not authorized to wear the standard SS runic tab, and instead were assigned specific national emblem SS tabs.
This example is of the desirable Dachau-made variety, featuring characteristic period construction with fine machine embroidery on ribbed black wool and the original stiffener retained on the reverse. The embroidery remains crisp and well defined, with the small red accent thread still visible near the axe head.
