Description
If you like rare, and very clean examples, this helmet is for you…Consisting of a beautiful early fixed bale steel helmet with the original soldiers information and serial number written on the inside. Both khaki chinstraps are present as well with the soldiers serial number and initials. The paint on the shell is fantastic, the inside of the steel shell shows the original soldiers serial number, name and and regimental information, which can possibly be researched.
The liner consists of an incredibly rare high pressure liner produced by the (Inland Manufacturing Company.) Manufactured in Dayton, Ohio these M-1 helmet liners were identified by an embossed “INLAND” in the crown. Inland Manufacturing Division started M-1 helmet liner delivery to the US Army in September 1942. They produced approximately 1,900,000 M-1 helmet liners and converted about 75,000 liners to airborne configuration, this was roughly 6% of all WWII helmet liners made. Inland discontinued M-1 helmet liner production in 1943, making their liners all early examples. The liner also has a near mint early leather chinstrap still attached as well. Truly a remarkable piece for any serious collectors display.
I can not stress how incredibly rare of a set this is, it is 100% complete and without any post war modifications, hands down one of the nicest Inland made sets you will ever be able to find and textbook in everyway.
