Description
This lion head sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 36 inches, with a blade length of approximately 30 inches. The ricasso bears the trademark of E. & F. Horster, Solingen firm on one side near the handle of the blade. The blade shows no spots and speckling of the plated finish, this blade rates near mint with a thin layer of oil that would easily clean off, there is no damage or sharpening as well, a flawless blade. The black celluloid grip has no damage or repairs and is triple wrapped with twisted brass wire which is tight to the handle with no damage. The guard, backstrap, and pommel all show an uncleaned patina with nice gilding remaining. The lion head has red ruby eyes and the pommel screw was finished to blend it in with the mane of the lion. The scabbard retains nearly all of its black paint with no dents or repairs. The sword scabbard has an original leather hanger which I believe to have been used attaching to a horse saddle. A fantastic Lion Head sword with no damage or repairs, the leather buffer has been lost to time, but the sword is still tight, and solid throughout!
