Description
This Saar 1935 Tinnie is an attractive piece from the time of the Saar plebiscite, when 90 percent of voters rejected the League of Nations mandate and chose to be reunited with Germany. Pieceis solid with reverse makers mark. It has a handsome design, with a silver-finished representation of the Saarland at the center of a Nazi swastika emblem. The arms of the swastika have the date of the vote, “1. März 1935.” The “Saar” emblem is a separate piece, and the two prongs that locate it on the swastika are intact. The reverse is marked by the manufacturer Deschler and Söhn, Munchen.
