Description
Incredible early, sought after example of the Spanish Cross in Silver with swords by Paul Meybauer, Berlin. Silver construction with soldered on set up. Maker marked on the reverse with the Imperial logo mark of Meybauer and the silver content “900” (this maker mark was used on the earliest of Spanish Crosses produced), these were the very first Spanish Crosses awarded during the period. Excellent condition with small signs of of being period worn. Beautiful dark layer of patina covering the badge with excellent crisp detail throughout. No repairs, no damage, a truly fantastic, untouched piece.
Note – The Spanish Cross in Silver with Swords was awarded to servicemen who took part in decisive battles or had considerable fighting experience. There were only 8,304 silver crosses with swords awarded.
