Description
Nice example of a uniform removed ‘edelweiss’ sleeve patch as worn by members of the Heer (Army) who were mountain troops. Embroidered example with a nice look.
Note – German soldiers, particularly the Gebirgsjäger (mountain troops), wore the edelweiss flower stemming from a long tradition in Austria and Bavaria where fetching the hardy flower signified courage and devotion, eventually becoming an official insignia for elite mountain units.
