Description
Wonderful early example of an M36 shoulder boards as worn by an enlisted man in Schutzen Panzer Regiment 1. The board is constructed of a dark green base with rosa pink edging, the center shows an embroidered rosa pink gothic S for “Schutzen” and the number 1 for 1st Regiment. The reverse shows the strap remaining indicating a removable type of board. Very sought after piece of German insignia!
Note – When Germany first introduced Motorized Infantry in the 1930s those regiments that were the Infantry component of the Panzer Divisions, prior to being known as Panzer Grenadiers (from 1942), were termed ‘Schützen Regimenter’ (organized into ‘Schützen Brigaden’).
