Description

Fantastic and very early example of an identified smaller 24mm Golden Party Pin (Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP) by Josef Fuess of München. This pins enamel on the front has some scratches but no major cracks or flaws, overall it’s still very attractive looking. The reverse shows the Fuess makers mark, the original pin as often found was broken and replaced during the period with a stronger example, often these small examples by Fuess have pin issues. On the bottom we see the very early party members number (5560), with research this example was identified to George Stübinger, born 12.06.1897 in Oberfranken, Germany. He resided in there and was employed at Firma Vorwerk and later after joining the SA, security work for a local factory. Stübinger joined the NSDAP very early to have the party number of 5560. During his membership his brother would be taken and held at Dachau for being labeled an enemy of the party. There are several printed period documents that accompany this award, an incredibly nice identified piece here!

Note – The Golden Party Badge was introduced on October 18th 1933. It was awarded to the first 100,000 members who joined the NSDAP without interrupted service since February 27th 1925 or for “special merits”. The small 24mm variation was for everyday use on civilian clothing. It is constructed out of a two-piece die struck tombak base that has been gold fire gilded and contains red translucent, white and black enamel work. The round shaped obverse depicts a black mobile swastika on a white base, encircled by: “NATIONAL-SOZIALISTISCHE – D.A.P.” on a red translucent pebbled base, a thin white border and a golden oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom above a lined backing.
