Description
Incredible, and rare piece to find here. This early (circa 1930) DLV (Deutsches Luft Verband) Leader stickpin in the case of issue. Wonderful quality made of a multipiece design, the reverse shows the manufacturer of Paul Meybauer. The case is also marked on the lid for the location this would’ve been sold. Great piece of German aviation history that would’ve been worn by one of the founding members of the Luftwaffe.
Note – The DLV (Deutscher Luftsportverband) was an organization that was founded in March 1933, shortly after the Nazi Party came to power. Officially, it served as the national umbrella organization for air sports in Nazi Germany. In reality, it functioned as a covert means of developing military aviation in defiance of the Treaty of Versailles, which prohibited Germany from having an air force. The DLV provided training for future Luftwaffe pilots, and personnel under the guise of civilian aviation activities.
