Description
Incredible, untouched M36 field tunic for an NCO in a Nachrichtentruppe (Signals) unit in the SS-Panzergrenadier Regiment 10 “Westland.” Wehrmact cut 3 step lining M36 uniform with some incredible insignia, the collar tabs show the 2 pips with edge tress indicating the rank of SS-Oberscharführer (SS-Senior section leader.) The machine sewn tabs are untouched and originally sewn to the dark green collar, the rune tab is very rare as it is the enlisted variant that looks like the rare flatwire Officers types. The shoulder straps are a black base with NCO tress, there is one rank pip and they are piped in bright lemon yellow as worn by Nachrichtentruppe (Signals) units. The left breast pocket shows a reinforced badge holes for one award, the inside shows very clear makers markings with a Munich depot marking, the left sleeve shows a wonderfully sewn and sunk in BeVo enlisted sleeve eagle, bellow this is an incredibly rare flatwire ‘Westland’ cufftitle, this in my opinion is one of the rarest types to be found and worth a small fortune on its own merits! All of this insignia matches each other in wear perfectly, this is not some restored humped up piece, there is no signs of ever being any other insignia on this set what so ever, in hand it is a one looker, untouched SS uniform that would look amazing in any collection!
Note – Westland is the name with which the government of Nazi Germany intended to replace that of the Netherlands during its 1940–45 occupation of the country. The name refers to the fact that the Netherlands lies directly to the west of Germany, hence “the land of the West” In June 1940, the Waffen SS recruited troops from Flanders (between 18 and 25 years) on the orders of Reichsführer of the SS Heinrich Himmlers. The men are promised to take over “police work” in Flanders. The regiment is set up within a few weeks, under the name SS-Regiment “Westland.” Later in December, the regiment was attatched to the 5th SS-Division “Wiking.”
