Another amazing time capsule grouping from WWI I was able to pick up. This set belonged to Sgt. Alvah Clyde Yarrington serial #1465489, born October 18th, 1890 in Lamoni, Iowa. He departed for Europe May 20th, 1918 on the S.S. Saxonia. He would serve for the entirety of WWI with Battery A, 129th Field Artillery Battalion, 35th Infantry Division. He would earn 3 clasps on his victory medal and see heavy combat in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918. After the war he would return home to Albany, Missouri where he would later become the Mayor of the city from 1935-1937. He would pass away from heart problems at 61 years old on February 18th, 1952. During WWI he served with Future U.S. President Harry S. Truman who commanded Battery D in the 129th Field Artillery Battalion during World War I.
