Description

Model 1933 “SS” Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen marked RZM 941/36/SS. The bright blade on this one looks excellent! The dark and crisp, acid etched “RZM 941/39 SS” (Carl Eickhorn) maker mark above their signature squirrel trade mark and Meine Ehre heisst Treue motto are both darkly and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is stunning as you shine it in the light (sorry, my pics just don’t give it justice)! The tip comes to a perfectly sharp point and fit is nice and tight! The blade rates NM. It has some very minor age grey and surface scratches throughout. The black enamel painted scabbard looks great! It has 99% paint coverage and remains completely dent free! The steel based, nickel plated scabbard fittings show very minimal wear and matched the entire daggers overall patina. The alloy based, nickel plated crossguards look great as well retaining all of its plating. The black hardwood grip is in great shape and it has no chips or cracks. It is honestly better than most. Overall this is a great example, known to the collector community as the “rat tail” variant due to how the Eickhorn squirrel logo image looks. There is also a perfect leather hanger attached to the scabbard. These daggers were produced in the small period between the maker marks and the RZM marks and carried both logo’s on the blade, great piece!
