Description
This piece is equipped with WKC mounts as Klaas did not produce their own fittings. The mounts are in really fine condition having matching dark surfaces. The pommel is in beautiful condition showing little to no wear. The crossguard matches the dark appearance exactly and all of the blackening is on the pebbling on the reverse of the guard. The grip is a very pretty orange example. It is interesting as it lacks the bulbous center seen on many Luftwaffe grips; this is most likely a Klaas design quirk. It remains in choice condition and is wrapped with twisted aluminum wire. Wrapped about the hilt is what appears to be the original portepee, which remains in fine condition showing almost no wear at all. The scabbard also has an airplane gray color and is dent free. The pebbled panels and bands are still quite crisp and the throat is retained with headless side screws. The blade is nickel plated and real beauty; a fine mint example here. It is marked on the reverse with the Kissing Cranes trademark of the Klaas firm and the original leather buffer is missing but easily can be replaced. A nice, complete Luftwaffe dagger set here by a very hard to find manufacture.
