This Hitler Youth Leader Dagger (Hitlerjugend Dolch für Führer) is a rare and very desirable piece. This pattern of dagger was designated the model 1937 “Hitlerjugend Dolch für Führer.” The plated blade on this one looks great! The “Blut Und Ehre!” motto and “RZM M7/36” (E & F. Hörster & Co, Solingen) maker mark are both nicely executed. The intact plating gives the blade a beautiful, mirror-like finish. The blade rates Excellent /NM, with only typical light surface scratches throughout, and runner marks. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The handle is complete, and shows no signs of being reworked and the wire is very tight. The steel pommel cap and upswept aluminum crossguard feature a decorative rope pattern, and the pommel has the correct HJ emblem to the top, with most of the finish worn off. The crossguard retains original burnishing in the recesses of the design. This Hitler Youth Leader Dagger is complete with its original scabbard. The scabbard is steel based and covered in the original dark blue Moroccan leather, most encountered have been post war restored. The leather has s small loose seam on one side but overall is still solid and remains fully intact. The fittings are all steel based, nickel-silver washed and burnished. They retain most of their original factory nickel-silver wash. The fittings display beautiful detail, with an elegant Hitler Youth eagle on the throat fitting, and they present an appealing, uncleansed patina. Overall, the condition of this dagger rates excellent. These do not frequently appear on the market. If you’ve been waiting for one of these, I would buy it now.
Note – This dagger was recently pulled directly from the U.S. Veterans family in the Midwest. It has never been cleaned or modified in any way, and has never been in a collection until now. These are one of the hardest Third Reich era daggers one can add to their collection.
