Description
Very nice, and very uncommon ACS with scales marked bayonet, estimated production year 1936-38. The blade shows a great edge to the tip, the overall finish is fantastic. The grips are undamaged and without repair. Near the hilt of the blade shows the makers mark of ACS with a scale, this stands for Alex Coppel, Solingen. It is hard to see, but the small Police acceptance marks can be seen near the hilt, these are very sought after bayonets. The scabbard has some wear but overall still has strong dark finish covering the entire piece with no major dents or dings. These S84/98 bayonets were for the Mauser K98 rifle and carbines under a commercial contract on all ACS with scale marked blades for a police contract. This mark was used up until 1938 before being switched to the AWS marking. The bayonet still has the original 1940 dated leather frog it was issued with. A very uncommon bayonet that is missing from most collections in overall great condition!
